Riesling Ried Steinhaus 2018
Vintage 2017 also available.
Steinhaus, literally Stonehouse, is the steepest of the Langenlois vineyards. It probably takes its name from the remains of small stone huts that can be found scattered along the several parcels. It is characterized by its small and sometimes narrow terraces. The vines grow on a rough, stony soil formed of gneiss and quartz, which produces a unique type of Riesling that expresses a very cool minerality.
[Ried = Austrian Term for single vineyard, same meaning as “Lage”]

Wine description
Peaches, apricots, the dark mineral character reminds of slate; now you bite into a juicy peach, also apricot, orange zest, grapes; focused fruit, cool, salty, fleshy, stays firm and contoured well into the long finish. - Vinaria 2018/19
