Thal

This is formed from a powerful rise of loess that is marked throughout by large terraces, exposed to the south and traversed by ravines. The plots have existed in Thal since the beginning of the family's vine growing history and make it one of our most traditional vineyard locations.

Thal

The deep loam soils mainly found here rest on loess. The loess was deposited during the ice ages as a strong covering and now occurs in different depths. In the hollows underlying sands and gravels are exposed at certain places. 

Our sites are planted with Grüner Veltliner and Pinot Noir.

Grüner Veltliner Thal

Some Veltliner vines have reached a remarkable age of 60 years and are crucial for the finesse in the wines, which are characterized by bright fruity aromas, pleasant, soft acidity and fine pepper seasoning.

Pinot Noir

The limestone soil in Thal also creates the perfect natural conditions for a finely formed Pinot Noir with a delicate, spicy fruitiness and an elegant body.
